STRINGS & FLUTES
I AM IN THE PROCESS OF MAKING QUENA FLUTESThe Image Below is a test model I made
THIS IMAGE IS TEST MODEL OF A QUENA FLUTE I AM MAKINGWHEN IT IS FINISHED IT WILL BE ABOUT 14 INCHES LONG AND HAVE 6 NOTE HOLES AND A THUMB HOLE.
The main problem with Quena Flutes is they can be difficult to tune because once a note is tuned it cannot be undone, It is permanent unless further tuned. The slightest change in length can throw a note or the flute out of tune. Also, Quena flutes are hard to find in the Key of E or A-flat. (E = 4 Sharps & A-flat = 4 flats) However, one has a hard time getting past the incredible sound a Quena Flute can produce on certain songs. Especially The Lonely Shepherd by James Last & El Cόndor Pasa
FOR MY FLUTE CHOICE, I bought a Cecilio flute which I did not like. Then I bought an Estar flute. The Estar is now Flutes my favorite instrument by far. Well, the best I can afford on my meager income. But, I enjoy trying to make all kinds of flutes. I take them with me when I go shopping and show them to people - Many of them are amazed that they can be hand made.
